Transportation Engineering Intern

Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate ABET Accredited Civil Engineering (or Engineering with Civil Emphasis) program, preferred 2 years completed toward degree
- Preliminary course work related to Transportation Engineering
- Familiarity with and willingness to learn industry software, such as Microstation, OpenRoads, or AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Proficient in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our culture

Internship Role Opportunities:
- One-on-one training with Project Managers and engineers to develop and review site drawings, cost estimates, permitting, CAD, and various engineering reports
- Field visits to learn how to capture relevant information in the field and perform data collection and quality inspections
- Instruction and fieldwork provided for DOT requirements for various engineered systems
- Exposure to a variety of engineering support assignments requiring a fundamental knowledge of design/drafting standards, practices, and techniques

Structural Engineering Intern

We currently have opportunities in our Belleville, IL office for this Structural Engineering Internship. Qualified candidates will be majoring in Engineering with emphasis on Structural Engineering. This internship will focus on providing hands-on structural engineering training and task management. Projects may include bridge rehabilitations and/or replacements, as well as small structure work. Interns may have the opportunity to perform field inspections, as well as assist in design plan preparation.

Environmental Science Intern

We currently have opportunities in our Geneva, IL and Evansville, IN offices for this Environmental Science Internship. This internship will primarily focus on performing tasks requiring the application of standard environmental techniques and procedures on a wide variety of transportation projects.

- Support projects of various sizes and scopes in environmental regulatory compliance, permitting and environmental due diligence
- Assist with environmental desktop reviews for wetlands, protected species, and other published data review
- Assist with environmental field studies including wetland delineations and biological field work
- Assist in plant identification and Floristic Quality Assessments
- Assist in preparing graphics related to project deliverables using ArcGIS

Frequently Asked Questions
Will I be compensated?
This is a paid internship program designed for both full and part-time weekly schedules.
How many hours will I work?
For the summer term, interns will be expected to work full-time up to 40 hours a week. During the school year, the program accommodates part-time schedules, with flexible hours to allow for class times and extracurricular activities.
Where will I be working?
We currently have opportunities for Civil Engineering Interns at our offices in Belleville, Peoria and Geneva, Illinois and in Evansville, Indiana. Environmental Science Interns will be based out of the Geneva, Illinois or Evansville, Indiana office.
I'm interested in a specific discipline of civil engineering. Will I be able to focus on that disciple for my internship?
Interns are typically assigned to the engineering discipline they specified in their application/interview, but we also aim to expose them to as many of the areas of expertise we work in as possible.
