Summary
Kaskaskia Engineering Group, LLC, provided Phase III engineering services for the Mississippi River Bridge project from the east of Illinois 3 (St. Clair Avenue) to the Main Span anchor pier located just east of the Mississippi River levee in Brooklyn, Illinois. The new four-lane, the cable-stayed bridge will divert Interstate 70 traffic from the 48-year-old Poplar Street Bridge – one of just two bridges in the nation that accommodate three freeways.
Project
Construction of the Illinois approach consists of constructing a bridge substructure, superstructure, deck and associated drainage, as well as grading and paving of aggregate access roadways with private railroad crossings.
KEG personnel is responsible for construction inspection, including supervision, engineering layout, field inspection of materials, maintenance of records and documentation, and quality assurance. Other duties as requested by the Resident Engineer contributed to the completion of the project in accordance with MoDOT specifications.
