Kaskaskia Engineering Group, LLC (KEG) provided Phase II engineering services to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), District 5, for completing a Plans, Specifications, and Cost Estimate for the rehabilitation of I-74 bridges over the Salt Fork Vermillion River west of Danville in Vermilion County, Illinois.
Project
The original structures were both constructed in 1962 and have undergone a series of various rehabilitation work in 1977, 1991, and between 2006 and 2017. The proposed rehabilitation includes superstructure replacement, substructure repairs, pier repairs, abutment retrofitting, and increased clear width.
KEG developed the Phase II Plans, Contract Specifications, and Cost Estimates for the project. The Illinois Department of Transportation provided the structural design for the two structures to be replaced, while KEG prepared the typical sections, summary, and schedules of quantities, removal plans, drainage design, removal plans maintenance of traffic, guardrail design, erosion control pavement marking plans and cross-sections.
