Summary
Kaskaskia Engineering Group, LLC (KEG) provided geotechnical engineering services to Farnsworth Group, Inc. and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) for the completion of percolation testing for the sizing of a new drain field for the Deer Run RV Dump Station located in Sangchris Lake State Park near Springfield, Illinois.
Project
KEG’s geotechnical staff made a site visit to excavate three test holes using hand excavation methods to minimum depths of 3 feet for preparation of the percolation test(s). The test holes were excavated within the boundaries of the proposed new drain field location at the Deer Run RV Dump Station. The three holes were then prepped for the formal test to be completed the following day.
KEG’s geotechnical staff returned to the site the following day and performed the percolation test(s) on each hole per requirements of the ILGA Administrative Code Title 77, Chapter I, Subchapter R – Water and Sewage, Part 905 – Private Sewer Disposal Code. Results were summarized in a formal letter, indicating the soils were generally suitable for the proposed drain field.
