Summary
Kaskaskia Engineering Group, LLC (KEG) was contracted by the City of Belleville, Illinois for improvements to Walnut Hill Cemetery Niches in Belleville, Illinois. The project included concrete slab design for six (6) 37-square-foot cemetery niches and minor site grading.
Project
As the City experienced an increase in requests for the burial of cremains, they decided to investigate the installation of multiple columbariums at Walnut Hill Cemetery. A columbarium is a wall, room, or building with niches that store cremation urns. KEG worked with the City to create a beautiful place in the cemetery to house the cremated remains of citizens choosing this type of burial.
KEG was the Prime engineer on the project. Specific tasks included coordinating the preparation of the following: a detailed topographic survey of the proposed site; a construction site plan with minor grading, general notes, and details; and a detailed engineer’s cost estimate for the project. In addition to grading and foundation design, plans also included the construction of a concrete sidewalk, installation of a flagpole, and seeding.
