Summary
Kaskaskia Engineering Group, LLC (KEG) provided land development services at Bicentennial Park in Belleville, Illinois. The park is located on approximately 40 acres of property located north of both Illinois Route 15 and Belleville Crossing Street and west of Roosevelt Avenue. These improvements received funding from an Open Space Land Acquisition and Development Grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
Project
KEG was responsible for conducting a topographic survey of the approximately 6-acre area as well as preparing improvement plans and specifications for the park improvements. These plans included overall site grading; erosion control protection; entrance roadway with parking; sanitary sewer; water main; and project contract documents. KEG was also responsible for coordinating with the electrical engineer for all site lighting features. Additional improvements included USACOE Section 404 and 401 and NPDES permitting for draining, dredging, and reestablishment of the existing lakes. Which included lake bed grading and dam breaching to improve fish habitat and increased lake volume.
Bicentennial Park amenities included ADA bicycle/pedestrian walking trails and sidewalks, a nature-themed playground with a poured-in-place rubber surface, a pre-engineered pavilion, and an ADA-compliant restroom facility.
