Summary
Kaskaskia Engineering Group, LLC (KEG) provided geotechnical services to the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD), as a sub-consultant to AMEC Foster Wheeler Environment and Infrastructure (AMEC). AMEC is the Watershed Team lead, for the Bissell Coldwater-Missouri-Meramec (BCMM) Sanitary Systems Improvements project for the MSD $4.7 Billion – Project Clear initiative. The Caulks Creek project is one of 36 sewer design projects under the contract. The Caulks Creek Phase I project is for 13,735 feet of proposed sanitary trunk sewer to upgrade and replace an existing trunk sewer located along the banks of Caulks Creek in Wildwood, Missouri.
Project
KEG provided field exploration, laboratory testing, analysis, and reporting for the entire Phase I trunk alignment and proposed appurtenances, such as manholes and laterals. Fifty-seven borings were completed for the project to depths of as much as 30 feet below existing grades. Rock coring was also performed where impacted. KEG’s coordination with property owners was a critical part of obtaining access to drilling locations and for the successful completion of the exploration within the project schedule.
Reporting consisted of both a Geotechnical Data Report (GDR) and a Geotechnical Interpretive Report (GIR) for inclusion in contractor bidding specifications. Details of these reports included location and general description of existing fill materials, the influence of groundwater and/or rock on design and construction, and further geotechnical construction recommendations.
