Summary
Kaskaskia Engineering Group, LLC (KEG) completed a three-phase expansion of the Eckert’s development in Belleville, Illinois, and was responsible for all aspects of the site design, including the parking lot and internal circulation layout, foundation analysis, storm sewer design, stormwater detention, water and sanitary sewer extensions, and site grading.
Project
The proposed project included the development of site plans, grading plans, utility extension plans, and construction details for the Eckert’s expansion, which included the construction of a new building for the Country Store, the renovation of the existing restaurant and existing Country Store into an expanded restaurant and banquet facility, and the expansion of the parking facilities.
KEG was part of the project team, which included architects, construction managers, structural engineers, and mechanical engineers for the development of the comprehensive set of plans for the proposed improvements. KEG was the geotechnical engineer of record for the building expansion. Geotechnical services included the drilling of borings for analysis and design of the building foundations and floor slabs, as summarized in a site geotechnical report.
The Illinois Department of Transportation was in the process of developing construction plans for the creation of a new city street to serve as a new entrance into Eckert’s development. KEG modified the intersection design study (IDS) to improve the design of the new public roadway and Eckert’s development.
