Summary
Kaskaskia Engineering Group, LLC (KEG) is leading the environmental services task for PB World in support of the I-70 Added Travel Lanes project in Hendricks and Morgan Counties, Indiana for the Greenfield District of the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) [INDOT Des No.: 1592433]. In completing the environmental services task, KEG managed the following subconsultants: CJ Seto Support Services (water resources support), Shrewsberry & Associates, LLC (hazardous materials support), and Weintraut & Associates, Inc. (Section 106/Archaeological support).
Project
The proposed project is located on I-70 near Indianapolis, starting at Hazelwood Road, west of SR 39, and extending eastward to Ronald Reagan Parkway (Ameriplex Parkway), a length of approximately 12 miles. The project consists of adding two lanes in the median, from Hazelwood Road to SR 267, to create three travel lanes in each direction, and adding two lanes on the outside from SR 267 east to Ronald Reagan Parkway to make four travel lanes in each direction.
KEG’s scope of work includes completing a Level 4 Categorical Exclusion (CE-4) to satisfy State and Federal environmental documentation requirements, as well as the appropriate level of Section 106 coordination and documentation for INDOT/Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) approval under INDOT’s Minor Projects Programmatic Agreements (MPPA).
In support of the completion of the CE-4, KEG’s tasks included preparing and submitting the INDOT required Red Flag Investigation; an early coordination packet with the appropriate Federal, State, and local resource agencies; a Waters of the U.S. and Wetlands Determination Report; a Noise Analysis; a Tree Survey; a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment; various water resources permits (i.e. USACE 404 Individual Permit, IDEM 401 Water Quality Certification, Rule 5 Erosion Control Plan); and, uploading the applicable commitments for the project to the INDOT ERMS database.
