Summary
Kaskaskia Engineering Group, LLC (KEG) provided land development services for Kimball Plaza at Bicentennial Park in Belleville, Illinois. The park is located on approximately 40 acres of property located north of both Illinois Route 15 and South 17th Street and west of Roosevelt Avenue. Kimball Plaza was the first phase of the Bicentennial Park project and was designed and built with a $400,000 private donation to the City.
Project
KEG was responsible for conducting a topographic survey of the approximately 9-acre area as well as preparing improvement plans and specifications for Kimball Plaza. These plans included overall site grading; erosion control protection; entrance roadway; approximately 17,000-square-foot parking lot; storm sewer; sanitary sewer; water main; and project contract documents. KEG was also responsible for the coordination of the existing waterway hydraulics and 404 permitting with the Army Corps of Engineers, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. Coordinating with the electrical engineer for all site lighting features was also accomplished.
Kimball Plaza’s amenities included ADA bicycle/pedestrian walking trails and sidewalks, a native plant garden, an ADA fishing pier, a nature-themed playground with a poured-in-place rubber surface, art sculpture, pre-engineered gazebo, ADA-compliant restroom facility, and lake aeration fountain.
