Summary
Kaskaskia Engineering Group, LLC (KEG) provided environmental and civil engineering design services to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) for the completion of a roadway improvement project at Rock Cut State Park, just north of the City of Rockford in Winnebago County, Illinois. The project included improvements to roadways, a bike path, parking lots, a boat ramp, and culverts within the park.
Project
KEG’s environmental department conducted wetland and surface water delineations within the project corridor during the design phase in order to determine water resource impacts and avoid and/or minimize impacts, where possible. KEG also completed USACE Section 404/401 permit applications and assisted with agency coordination.
KEG’s design team prepared full design plan sheets, including cross-sections and a labeled map of existing utilities. The team performed a site visit to verification of the aerial layout of the project area and to take additional field measurements. While on-site, the team also performed an inventory of sign locations and visual inspections of crossroad culverts and entrances/crossroads.
KEG’s design team also prepared the construction plans, specifications, and estimates for improvements to roadways, culverts, and parking lots throughout the park, including a stormwater pollution prevention plan (SWPPP). The project was broken up into 2 contracts, with Contract 1 to be constructed in 2022 and Contract 2 to be constructed in 2023.
