Summary
Kaskaskia Engineering Group, LLC (KEG) provided geotechnical and environmental services to the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority (ISTHA) on project RR-13-4117, as a sub-consultant to Bowman Consulting Group. KEG provided geotechnical drilling services and report preparation and an environmental Noise Study report for improvements to the existing East and West Connector ramps which connect the Reagan Memorial Tollway (I-88) to the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) in DuPage and Cook Counties, Illinois. Improvements include reconstruction of the Ramp M and Ramp N connector pavements, rehabilitation of existing mainline and cross-road bridges, drainage system and lighting upgrades, and additions to existing sound barrier walls.
Project
KEG’s geotechnical staff utilized a combination of existing boring data, supplemented by new boring data for the geotechnical analysis, which included global stability of slopes and sound barrier walls, foundation recommendations for bridge and sound wall expansion, and construction recommendations for general fill placement and pavement design.
Results of the exploration and analysis were summarized in a Structural Geotechnical Report (SGR) per ISTHA and Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) specifications. Seventeen subgrade borings and twenty-eight noise-wall borings were completed. A draft Noise Study was submitted by KEG environmental personnel and is currently under review.
