Summary
Kaskaskia Engineering Group, LLC (KEG) was retained by the City of Belleville, Illinois to assist with the layout and design of a new parking lot along East Washington Street.
The project was part of the overall Downtown Belleville Parking Study which was also performed by KEG. Since the completion of the Main Street Streetscape in 2007, several buildings have been redeveloped to include new retail, commercial, office, and residential space. The parking study determined that the East Washington Street parking area was crucial to the continued redevelopment of existing buildings along the south side of East Main Street.
Project
The project included the relocation of an existing business and the demolition of the building. KEG worked with the City to assist the current business owner in the relocation of their business to a suitable location. The project also included thoughtful consideration and innovative design measures to accommodate access/connections of adjacent properties to the new lot.
KEG provided a topographic survey, detailed drawings for the removal of existing retaining walls, onsite measurements of the existing utilities, construction drawings, contract documents, site drainage report, and easement documentation.
KEG also provided inspection and construction supervision during the demolition and construction phases, directed the contractor through the completion of the project, and provided as-built drawings of the completed parking lot.
